- There will be lots of games for kids and adults.
- Bounce house is not in keeping with “old fashioned picnic” approach.
- Safeway coupon – Doris is still trying.
- Jennifer Lee is working on a discount from Smart and Final.
- Tables are arranged.
- The theme for the picnic is the variety of cultural backgrounds in the neighborhood.
- The committee is looking for a way to have folks check off their house or street where they live – to determine which street has the most attendees.
- Drinks – Mark Burns is providing, and Boehms will bring leftovers stored since last picnic.
- Need to hold the tables - ask Doug Johnson to go over early and mark them.
- Thanks to Doris for the flyer design and Steve and crew for distribution.
- One prize will be done by drawing – members will get two tickets as a reward and incentive for joining MNA.
Nominating Committee & Officer Election Plans
- Committee should be formed by July and approved at July board meeting. Names of nominees need to be delivered to members by October 1.
- The chair of the committee should be on current board; the committee should have at least 2 other non-board members.
- Charles volunteered to chair. Board members can recruit committee members and potential board members at the picnic.
- Election of officers will take place at the general meeting in October; only those who are paid members by August 1 may vote.
- Board members should have the by-laws excerpts with job descriptions available at the picnic. The descriptions of officer duties should be on a handout at the general meeting on August 1 (NNO) – so that all can have access to the information, even if they don't have e-mail or access to the MNA website.
- Larry will make a pitch at the picnic for committee members and for board members.
- Larry will meet with Charles to discuss what was done last year.
By-law Changes
- There was discussion of last year’s idea that was too late to submit – enlarging the board.
- Discussion will continue at next board meeting.
National Night Out Plans
- Police Department sent out registration form for official recognition. Bob will register us.
- Need to check out ability to show movie at the park. Good idea to test first. Board discussed using the restroom building as a screen. David will lead that effort.
- Discussion of avoiding water at the park and possibly using the school as a backdrop/screen. Larry will help with logistics.
- Jump house requires a city permit.
- May need amplification permit for movie sound.
Traffic Committee
- Judy was informed that we would like her to approach the police about doing the video and about discussing carpooling once again for the start of school.
- Bob will ask Judy to contact Leslie about the best time to meet to deal with issues before school starts.
Membership Drive
- No action taken since last meeting.
Next Flyer:
- Next newsletter will be in mid-July – be thinking about and preparing articles.
- Bob to do a President’s letter. Board members asked to consider what should be included, and to start preparing their materials so that we can go to print right after the next Board meeting.
Website Updates (Future Meetings, October 25 Election & General Meeting
- TJ will let Siggy know items Board would like posted when sending draft minutes.
- Should include Oct 25 meeting on list of meetings.
- Remind Siggy to post as a separate item the president’s letter about membership from April newsletter and to reactivate the link for the tulip tree treatment information, even though it is too late to use this year. The rain made application a real problem, and many trees are infested.
